AGT has applied its OAUGDP® technology to create the Enhanced Plasma Sterilized (EPS) Air Filtration and Purification System to protect against attack agents, and to improve poor indoor air quality associated with Sick Building Syndrome in government, commercial, healthcare, educational and residential buildings, as well as in commercial aircraft. The EPS System is inherently flexible and can be retrofitted into any ducted air conditioning or ventilation system. It can be matched with a variety of filter types to meet any air cleaning or sterilization needs. Controls for the EPS are simple and can be stand alone or integrated into existing or new BAC networks.
The EPS System, developed in part by funding from the EPA, captures microorganisms and airborne chemicals through enhanced filtration, then destroys them with exposure to plasma products. Capture efficiency of microorganisms can exceed HEPA grade, and neutralization rates exceed 99.9999%. Circulating air is passed through the EPS filter, which is positioned just downstream of the EPS electrodes. When an electric field is applied between the electrodes, the uniform glow discharge plasma is formed and electrically breaks the air down into short-lived, reactive "oxygen-based" gases. When organic substrates such as bacteria, viruses, mold and VOCs are exposed to these reactive gases, they are destroyed or rendered harmless.
AGT's EPS Air Filtration and Purification System has been recognized with a 2002 R&D 100 Award and by the Small Business Administration with a Tibbett's Award.
