"AGT Successfully Completes EPA Contract"

Knoxville, Tennessee - (Business Wire) - October 21, 2004.

Atmospheric Glow Technologies, Inc. (OCBB: AGWT) (AGT) has successfully completed a six-month contract funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). As part of its Green Chemistry initiative, the EPA is seeking to develop alternative sterilization technologies to replace the use of ethylene oxide. Presently, ethylene oxide is commonly used to sterilize materials. Although very effective, it is classified as a Group B1 (probable) carcinogen by the U.S. EPA.

AGT's objective was to demonstrate that its patented technology, One Atmosphere Uniform Glow Discharge Plasma (OAUGDP™), could be a feasible alternative. AGT's technology creates reactive oxygen-based gases that inactivate microorganisms in order to sterilize materials. Based upon the success of a Phase I Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) contract, funded earlier this year by the EPA, AGT has chosen to seek competitive follow-on funding through a Phase II SBIR contract in order to continue development of its environmentally friendly process.
